The single was recorded with David Sitek in Los Angeles this past winter. CocoRosie also recorded early in the spring of 2012 with Antony Hegarty at their home studio in Brooklyn. CocoRosie's thoughts on the recording sessions: " Working with Dave is a creative exorcism -musical kinship without boundary." Antony Hegarty sings on "Tearz For Animals".


The "We Are On Fire" art work marks the first collaboration between artist Jesse Hazelip and Bianca (aka Twin Rivers). The "Tearz For Animals" art work came from a prison exchange project; drawings from the inside, between friends, as a means to hope.
